What about staying with a host family? What options are available?
Chambres d'hôtes, the French equivalent of bed & breakfast accommodation, are a delightfully personal way of getting to know Touraine. You are warmly welcomed by your hosts, who provide you with a bed and breakfast, and in some cases a 'table d'hôtes' dinner, a set meal eaten together with the hosts and other guests. Chambres d'hôtes are often in character properties, country houses and rural farms, great places for taking long walks. Contact us to request the brochure of Gîtes de France in Touraine, which also includes a list of chambres d'hôtes.

Can I rent a house, apartment or other furnished accommodation?
Of course. You can choose from various types of rented accommodation. Furnished accommodation: houses, apartments and character properties can be rented all year round for one or more weeks, or just for a weekend. Rural gîtes, houses and apartments in the country are also very pleasant places to stay while on holiday. These lets always have a fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom, toilet, lounge and bedroom(s), in compliance with the criteria set out in the Gîtes de France charter. Whatever your preference, these lets, which are regularly inspected by tourism professionals, are guaranteed to provide the very best services. On request we can send you the relevant brochures. |

What accommodation options are there for groups?
Touraine has a huge accommodation capacity, particularly in hotels. Some gîtes can also take groups, depending on the number of people concerned. We also keep a list of accommodation for groups such as holiday centres, youth hostels, accommodation units for families, VVF holiday accommodation, etc. which we can send you. These different types of accommodation are listed in our 'Camp sites' brochure.
Contact us and we will be delighted to send you all the information you require. |
 |
What accommodation options are there for children?
Various holiday centres and youth hostels are open to children. Our 'Camp sites' brochure lists the different establishments licensed to take children. Please contact us if you would like us to send you a copy. Some gîtes, known as 'Gîtes d'enfants', are for families looking to send their children on a rural, family-style back-to-nature holiday. For these holidays, children must be aged between 6 and 16. There are different categories of gîtes for different age groups. |

Can I stay in a château?
Want to experience life in a château on holiday? There are two options for staying in a château:
- Chambres d'hôtes: stay with the owners of a château, manor house or attractive private residence as a paying guest, enjoying a quiet, intimate atmosphere in the lounge and a comfortable bedroom. Some of these properties offer dinner, often serving up family recipes accompanied by excellent Loire wines. For more information, contact the "Bienvenue au Château Centre Val de Loire" association.
- Hotels belonging to the "Relais et Châteaux", "Grandes Etapes Françaises" and "Châteaux-Hôtels Indépendants" hotel groups offer a range of services, with gastronomic cuisine, a large number of rooms, qualified staff and a number of leisure facilities at the hotel. These hotels are identified by their group logo in the "Hotels" brochure. |
